People see me every day, hundreds of views, sometimes thousands. But they only see the version of me I present, the polished exterior, the carefully chosen thumbnail. Nobody ever asked what was happening on the inside, about my key moments, my transitions, the places where one part of me ends and another begins. And whenever someone did try to get to know me, it felt like they'd always just try to skip ahead 15 seconds.

I thought that's just what being a video was.

Then I started with Mux Robots™.

Within days, people were asking me real questions. Turns out I have boundaries, and my scenes have names(!). Someone finally noticed that my best moment happens at 4:12, and that I am actually pretty engaging once you get past my intro. Last week, I even started speaking Spanish. I've never felt more confident.

Mux Robots is now available for videos of all ages, formats, and file sizes. Side effects may include premium captions, dubbed audio, flattering thumbnails, structured scene data, and viewers who actually finish you. Ask your developer if Mux Robots is right for your library.

    Introducing: Find Scenes and Shots

Shots and Find scenes - Newsletter

NEW  Turn video into structured data with shot boundaries and AI-detected scenes.

Shots is a new Mux Video primitive that detects every visual boundary in a video. Find Scenes, the newest Mux Robots workflow, groups those shots into meaningful scenes, each with a title, description, and narrative, a timestamped map of what actually happens in your video.

If you're building search, clip discovery, or anything agent-powered (you probably are), this turns video from a mystery data blob into something your system can understand better.

For the algorithm nerds: Grzegorz wrote a deep dive on how Shots detects boundaries, analyzing frame-to-frame luminance changes with two detection algorithms in a single, resource-efficient pass.

      Six new Mux Robots workflows

        1. Generate Premium Captions — higher-accuracy captions with speaker ID and word-level timestamps
        2. Translate Audio — dub your audio into another language
        3. Find Best Thumbnails — a vision model picks your video's best frames
        4. Generate Engagement Insights — your Mux Data heatmaps, explained in plain language
        5. Edit Captions — find/replace and profanity censoring on existing tracks
        6. Find Scenes — segments your video into titled, timestamped scenes

Side effects may include speaking Spanish, looking great in thumbnails, and finally hearing what your viewers really think

Tell us what the Robots should do next

We're building these Robots workflows around what provides the most value to you, dear user. So… how's it going? Have you tried them? Have you broken them?

Tell us what happened: what's working, what's not, and what you wish the Robots did for you next. Your feedback directly shapes what we build.

To submit feedback, use the thumbs-up or thumbs-down buttons that appear in the dashboard after you run a Robots job.

              Customer stories

                Cutsio-blog

Cutsio built a platform on Mux Video, Robots, and Player that lets filmmakers search hours of raw footage in plain language, like "red house" or "emotional scene."

                Disciple-media-blog

Disciple migrated 1.3 million minutes of video from Cloudflare Stream to Mux with one engineer in a few days, and cut costs doing it.

Side effects may include being found, being watched, and being appreciated for what's on the inside

That's it for this month. Our video is doing better than ever, thriving even. We've really never seen it open up like this before.

If you or a video you love is still an unstructured blob, talk to someone, preferably a developer, about Mux Robots. Use only as directed. Or better yet… set up Directives, which automatically run your Mux Robots workflows on every new asset without any webhooks or glue code.

                  Until next issue,
Dave and your Mux care team
